Crazy Eights

Players: 2-8

Objective: Be the first player to get rid of all your cards.

Rules:

  • Deal 5-8 cards one at a time, face down, starting with the player to the dealer’s left.

  • Place the rest of the cards face down in the center of the table.

  • Turn the first card up and place it beside the facedown pile. If an eight is turned, place it in the middle of the deck and turn over the next card. The cards that are face up create a starter pile.

  • Starting on the dealer’s left, each player places one card, with the face up, on the starter pile.

  • Each card played, other than an eight, must match the number or suit of the card on the starter pile. If the Ace of Spades is the starter, the card that is played must either be another Ace, or be any card from the spades suit. If unable to play a card, the player must draw cards from the top of the facedown cards until a play is possible. As each card is played, the player must perform the exercise on the card. The number of times the exercise is performed depends on the number on the card. Face value cards count as ten. Aces can be either one or eleven.

  • If the cards from the facedown pile run out, the player must pass his or her turn to the next player.

  • Save the card at the top of the starter pile. Shuffle the cards underneath. Turn the cards face down. Make these cards the new pile.

  • All eights are wild. An eight may be played at any time in turn. The player should only select a suit for it, not a number.

  • The first player without cards wins the game!

Old Maid

Players: 2-8

Objective: Each player tries to get rid of his, or her, cards as fast as possible. The player left holding the unmatched card, the Old Maid, loses. If the card is a Fit Crew Character, the player with the final card performs the exercise. The number of times the exercise is done depends on the number of the card. If the Athlete’s Choice card is the final card, the player holding the final card selects the exercise to be performed.

Cards: 51 or 53

Rules:

  • Decide whether to remove a card or add the Athlete’s Choice card.

  • Shuffle and deal all the cards.

  • Players make as many pairs as possible, from their cards, and place these pairs face-up on the table in front of them.

  • Starting with the dealer, each player then takes a turn fanning out their hands so that the player to their left can draw one card. The player should not be allowed to see the player's hand from which they are drawing.

  • Continue to play in this fashion.

  • As players make pairs in their hand, they discard them immediately onto the table.

Go Fish (Go Fit!)

Players: 2-6

Objective: Be the player with the most books.

Rules:

  • The dealer deals 5 cards to each player (7 each for 2 players).

  • The remaining cards are placed face down to form a stock.

  • The player to dealer's left starts. A turn consists of asking a specific player for a specific rank. For example, if it is my turn I might say: 'Nick, please give me your kings'. The player who asks must already hold at least one card of the requested rank, so I must hold at least one jack to say this. If the player who was asked (Nick) has cards of the named rank (kings in this case), he must give all of his cards of this rank to the player who asked for them. That player then gets another turn and may again ask any player for any rank already held by the asker.

  • If the person asked does not have any cards of the named rank, they say 'Go fish!’ (Or ‘Go Fit!'). The asker will then draw the top card of the undealt stock. If the drawn card is the rank asked for, the asker shows it and gets another turn. If the drawn card is not the rank asked for, the asker keeps it and does the exercise on the card. The exercise is performed 5 times.

  • The turn then passes to the player who said 'Go fish!'.

  • When a player collects a book of 4 cards of the same rank, this must be shown and discarded face down.

  • The game continues until either someone has no cards left in their hand or the stock runs out. The winner is the player who then has the most books.
